Imaging/Photography Training with Suppliers - Sony, Samsung, Nikon,Canon, Fujifilm, Olympus and Panasonic at Ricoh Areana - Coventry

Hi guys!

Fun fun fun … word for the day …. SELFIE!

On Friday 4th July I attended training to gain my Imaging Specialist certificate for work.  I had the great opportunity to work and train along side some great names within the Imaging / Photography  business and gain some hands on experience with new cameras and technologies within the sector.

I traveled to Coventry and attended Ricoh Arena, the building was very posh, clean and very professional, the staff where very accommodating and the food and snacks served where of top notch level. A must visit for all if you get chance. Throughout the day we travelled around the rooms, including Jaguar club rooms and premium rooms that overlook the arena.

Throughout the day we gained training with top supplier. Below I will give a quick overview over the training and camera used, over time I will do an in depth review of each camera.  These where :
Fujifilm
Samsung
Canon
Sony
Panasonic
Olympus
Nikon

Samsung
This was my favourite part of the day! We played with the Samsung galaxy 2 camera, NX mini and the NX3000, All fantastic camera, The NX mini,  a small compact system camera was really good for the wide angle shots with its small lens, the NX3000 for its retro style and flip up screen and then the Galaxy 2 camera for its android system so I can edit photos via apps and internet. Samsung brought along some animals/reptiles to show the cameras skills. See the results below.

Nikon
With nikon I expect a lot as I use Nikon S1 compact system and D3200 DSLR personally. When I entered the room I was surprised to see a model there, we used the D3200 and I must say I want to upgrade my camera to this one. I like the flip screen and the Wifi function, it also has more auto focus points and colour pop function!

Fujifilm
This supplier was a great start to the day! We went through the camera range that fujifilm supply. We first took a look at the range of Bridge camera, including the S8400W. Very fun cameras including functions of excellent 44x zoom and super macro mode to name a few of my favourites. Then we had a look at the XP70 the waterproof and shockproof camera, I love this camera for its durability, the colour so you don’t lose it under water and I was surprised with the quality of the flash once it was put under water. All-round brilliant and you can buy a lifejacket for it to. Then for the laughs I got up and had a go with the Instant camera, very quick and easy to use for all camera users.

Panasonic
All I can say about this supplier is TZ60!! What a camera. 30 x zoom … Viewfinder … ON A COMPACT!! Need I say any more? Well I will … MANUAL RING! This is any photographers dream, but if you love to just point and shoot you can with its intelligent auto mode. For all you photographers that want a Compact system, the G6 and G7 are the way forward, build brilliantly and gives you that edge without the weight. We had the pleasure to meet a Street photographer that uses the G7 and the photos he had taken where amazing, with the silent mode, you can get right next to someones ear without you knowing, as he did this while we was playing with the TZ60.

Sony
Sony set us was very good, with there range of cameras and camcorders. They had a set up with there Camcorder with a projector to show the functions and the strength of the image projected on the wall. We also had a play with the HX60V … the stand out functions where build quality, 30 x zoom and GPS built in.

Olympus
This was the most active we where put through the day, football, models and Damian McGillicuddy one of Olympus’s photographers. We played with the camera including the Pen range,  learned about aperture and the olympus’s blur mode to not over complicate the camera to make it easy for everyone, also the wide range of lens’s available.

Canon
Canon have a wide range of cameras but we concentrated on the 700D. Great DSLR with the 18mp, 5fps, vari-angled touch screen and STM lens. We had a play with low light photography with shutter speeds and with the flashguns as the camera works wirelessly with speedlites for ease of use. See photo below of wireless remote control over speedlite.

A very fun day to gain hands on experience with all cameras in the market today. The end result is I like cameras to much and I need more money to buy them all! Far to many selfies was taken, but if that’s what gets people into photography and playing with cameras again, then its great! Keep an eye out for more reviews on cameras on my blog.
